La guerre à Gaza est une guerre contre les enfants. Le temps de lire la totalité de ce site, un enfant de plus aura été tué. La justification de la guerre a perdu de vue les réalités: ce sont les vies des enfants qui tiennent dans leurs mains l’avenir de la Palestine et d’Israël qui sont en jeu.
Les enfants ne choisissent pas de camp. Les enfants sont toujours du côté de l’avenir de l’humanité. Et nous choisissons d’être de leur côté. Tous les enfants méritent une chance de grandir.

À Gaza, les parents écrivent le nom de leurs enfants sur leur corps pour qu’ils puissent être identifiés s’ils sont tués sous un bombardement. Cela nous brise le cœur. Dès que nous l’avons appris, nous avons su que nous devions agir.
Nous avons donc décidé de nous associer à des artistes et des activistes. Ensemble nous allons inscrire le nom des enfants de Gaza sur NOS corps en signe de solidarité – et dire au monde entier que leurs vies comptent. Vous pouvez agir vous aussi. Voici comment faire.

Have I passed it on without realising?
My experience of being chased off a bus by a drunk man at 11 stopped me from using buses wherever possible for years.
And I’ve just realised that I created a situation where my children would be able to walk the 2 roads to school.
Even when my son was old enough to take buses to town to meet friends I drove him.
In my head this was me being nice.
During Covid this was me being wise.
And then it got to the point where at 14/15 he finally took a bus.
It was fine.
My daughter too, now nearly 14, gets driven everywhere. It wouldn’t occur to me to tell her to get a bus. Although she now will if going to a friends for tea, but that’s with that friend. Safety in numbers?!
I may help others break these patterns to stop exactly this! But it doesn’t stop me from being human, and sometimes we are so close to the story replaying that we can’t see it replaying.
It’s time to loosen my grip, and let them explore independence in a way that I feel I missed through not knowing how to help myself at the time.
None of us are perfect.
Even when we’re in the know.

Myself, I helped in raising a beautiful, smart girl. She received a diploma. She then transferred credits and worked her arse off, working a full time job, living on her own, and received a degree. She normally has my work ethic; strong, cares about the job we do, tries to be the best that has been there before. She became her own woman, and makes her own choices, I taught her that. She was never pressured into doing something her mom or I wanted her to do, except maybe dishes or cleaning her bedroom or bathroom.
Blood will always be thicker than water, though, even if someone thinks it is not, and that is ok. Trust me, I know all too well. 😢
I hope all of the daughters and sons reached out to their "dad" today and told them how they feel and wished him a Happy Father`s Day, because dad`s, without you, they may have missed something if you were not present to give them a hand or give them the push they needed to move forward and become, or start to become the woman or man they have/are/eventually will became/become.

A child believing they`re something doesn`t make it true. It makes it "make believe" pretend play. It`s what kids do.

Msufini School is our current focus on mafiaisland. Classrooms are overcrowded. Teachers are under equipped. The children barely have backpacks and complete uniforms. Thanks to our donors we`ve been able to provide notebooks, pens, pencils, erasers, sharpeners and treats for at least 6 classrooms of 100+ students.
We provided teachers with red pens, counter books and chalk. Forget dry erase boards. This school only has chalkboards and some classrooms don`t even have chalk.

Qui sommes-nous?
Ce site a été créé par des chargé·es de campagne du mouvement international Avaaz. Parents ou non, nous avons été profondément touchés par la situation des enfants en Palestine et en Israël. Apprendre que des parents devaient inscrire le nom de leurs enfants sur leurs corps à Gaza nous a brisé le cœur. L’angoisse des parents israéliens attendant le retour de leurs enfants nous a fait tout autant de peine. Nous devions agir.
Avaaz signifie “voix” dans plusieurs langues européeennes, moyen-orientales et asiatiques. Nous sommes un mouvement en ligne planétaire qui donne aux citoyens les moyens de peser sur les décisions partout. Nous proposons à des millions de personnes de tous les horizons la possibilité de faire entendre leurs voix sur les questions internationales, régionales et nationales les plus urgentes, de la corruption et la pauvreté en passant par les conflits et le changement climatique. Notre modèle de mobilisation en ligne permet à des milliers de gestes individuels, aussi petits soient-ils, de devenir une puissante force collective. Avaaz travaille dans 17 langues, animée par une équipe sur 5 continents.
