De oorlog in Gaza is een oorlog tegen kinderen. Tegen de tijd dat je deze website helemaal hebt gelezen, zal er weer een kind vermoord zijn in Gaza*. Door oorlog te rechtvaardigen wordt vergeten wat er echt op het spel staat: de levens van de kinderen die de toekomst zijn voor Palestina en Israël.
Kinderen kiezen geen kant. Kinderen staan altijd aan de kant van de toekomst. En dat is de kant waar wij voor kiezen. Alle kinderen verdienen het om op te groeien.

Op dit moment lopen kinderen in Gaza rond met hun naam op hun lichaam geschreven. Dit doen ouders zodat ze hen als ze omkomen kunnen identificeren en op gepaste wijze om hen kunnen rouwen. Stel je eens voor hoe dat voor hen moet zijn. Ons hart brak toen wij dit hoorden en we wisten meteen dat we iets moesten doen.
Daarom gaan wij samen met kunstenaars en activisten de namen van kinderen in Gaza op ons LICHAAM schrijven als een teken van solidariteit — en om de wereld te laten weten dat hun levens ertoe doen. En jij kunt meedoen door de onderstaande stappen te volgen.

Have I passed it on without realising?
My experience of being chased off a bus by a drunk man at 11 stopped me from using buses wherever possible for years.
And I’ve just realised that I created a situation where my children would be able to walk the 2 roads to school.
Even when my son was old enough to take buses to town to meet friends I drove him.
In my head this was me being nice.
During Covid this was me being wise.
And then it got to the point where at 14/15 he finally took a bus.
It was fine.
My daughter too, now nearly 14, gets driven everywhere. It wouldn’t occur to me to tell her to get a bus. Although she now will if going to a friends for tea, but that’s with that friend. Safety in numbers?!
I may help others break these patterns to stop exactly this! But it doesn’t stop me from being human, and sometimes we are so close to the story replaying that we can’t see it replaying.
It’s time to loosen my grip, and let them explore independence in a way that I feel I missed through not knowing how to help myself at the time.
None of us are perfect.

Myself, I helped in raising a beautiful, smart girl. She received a diploma. She then transferred credits and worked her arse off, working a full time job, living on her own, and received a degree. She normally has my work ethic; strong, cares about the job we do, tries to be the best that has been there before. She became her own woman, and makes her own choices, I taught her that. She was never pressured into doing something her mom or I wanted her to do, except maybe dishes or cleaning her bedroom or bathroom.
Blood will always be thicker than water, though, even if someone thinks it is not, and that is ok. Trust me, I know all too well. 😢
I hope all of the daughters and sons reached out to their "dad" today and told them how they feel and wished him a Happy Father`s Day, because dad`s, without you, they may have missed something if you were not present to give them a hand or give them the push they needed to move forward and become, or start to become the woman or man they have/are/eventually will became/become.

Msufini School is our current focus on mafiaisland. Classrooms are overcrowded. Teachers are under equipped. The children barely have backpacks and complete uniforms. Thanks to our donors we`ve been able to provide notebooks, pens, pencils, erasers, sharpeners and treats for at least 6 classrooms of 100+ students.
We provided teachers with red pens, counter books and chalk. Forget dry erase boards. This school only has chalkboards and some classrooms don`t even have chalk.

Vertel ons over een kind dat nu in Gaza is door onderstaand formulier in te vullen. We zullen hun verhaal toevoegen aan de lijst met kinderen die nog te redden zijn. Je kunt dit formulier ook gebruiken als je een foto van een kind wilt laten verwijderen.
Wie zijn wij?
Deze website is gemaakt door actievoerders van de wereldwijde beweging Avaaz, waaronder veel ouders die diep geraakt zijn door de toestand waarin de kinderen van Palestina en Israël zich bevinden. Het was hartverscheurend om te horen dat ouders in Gaza de naam van hun kinderen op hun lichaam schrijven. Met pijn in ons hart zagen we ook hoe Israëlische ouders er wanhopig naar verlangden hun kinderen terug te krijgen. We moesten iets doen.
Avaaz betekent ‘stem’ in meerdere Europese, Midden-Oosterse en Aziatische talen. Wij zijn een wereldwijde digitale beweging die door burgers aangestuurde politieke acties bij beleidsvormers over de hele wereld brengt. We geven miljoenen mensen van alle rangen en standen de mogelijkheid om in actie te komen bij belangrijke internationale, regionale en nationale kwesties, van corruptie en armoede tot conflict en klimaatverandering. Onze manier van online organisatie zorgt ervoor dat duizenden individuele inspanningen, hoe klein ook, snel gebundeld kunnen worden tot een krachtig en verenigd collectief. De Avaaz-gemeenschap voert campagne in 17 talen, met een kernteam op 6 continenten.
